Chirpwood donates at least half of its profits to things we believe in. This year, that means the Bridge2Rwanda Scholars Program.
has chosen a strategy to invest deeply in a few, who will in turn influence the many. The mission of the Bridge2Rwanda Scholars Program is to a create a fellowship of globally educated, entrepreneurial servant leaders working together in Africa – committed to their countries and one another. The B2R Scholars Program has established itself as one of the most effective university preparation programs to help African students earn international scholarships. Since 2011, the program has helped 85 Rwandan students earn more than $18 million of scholarships (total four year value) to more than 45 universities in five countries.
B2R Scholars participate in an intensive academic and leadership gap-year program, earn scholarships to study abroad and gain practical career experience through internship opportunities. Upon completion of their studies, scholars return to their home countries (Rwanda, Burundi, DRC, and South Sudan) engaging in nation building as servant leaders and promoting peace and cooperation within the region and the entire continent of Africa. The scholars attend quality institutions such as Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, U Penn, Columbia, Vanderbilt, University of Chicago, Northwestern, Emory, Bryn Mawr, Abilene Christian University, Texas Christian University and many other highly selective schools. The ultimate goal is to have a real, sustainable, and long-term impact on development in Africa by investing in its future generation of leaders.
